How to Disable Comments On WordPress Posts and Pages

WordPress provides the blogger comment feature which makes the post more interactive and the author comes to know what it’s user think’s.

Undoubtedly this is one of the best features of WordPress but sometimes we don’t need the comment feature on some posts. so how to Disable comments on the post?

There are 3 ways you can disable the comment feature

  • Disable comments on specific posts/Page.
  • Disable all comments on posts/Page.
  • Conditionally Disable comments on all the pages/Posts.

All the above 3 options will do the work of disabling the comments you can follow anyone of this or all three as per your needs.

Disable comments on specific posts or pages

This one of the easiest way to disable comment of particular post or page, it is useful if you want to disable comments on specific post or pages, by this you can also disable comments from the already published post.

Using this is very useful if you want on all the posts but don’t want on pages or you want comments on all the posts except on few you can do this manually on that particular page/post.

follow the below steps to disable comments on specific posts or pages.

  • Login to your WordPress dashboard
  • Go to Edit section of posts or pages on which you want to deactivate comments
  • Search for discussion tab (usually it’s next to the post writing section but you can use the search feature of your browser to find the text “Discussion“)
  • Uncheck the box that says allow comments. It should look like the screenshot below:Disable comments on specific posts or pages
  • Click on Update post and that’s about it. The comment box will be gone from the post/page.

Disable comments on all the pages

By using this option you can disable all the comment from your blog, there will be no comment option in the new posts and posts and pages published already.

  • Go to Settings > Discussions in the WordPress dashboard
  • Under Default article settings, uncheck the option “Allow people to post comments on new articles“. 

Conditionally Disable comments on all the pages and posts

In this, you can decide when to disable comments i.e it can be disabled after some days after finishing dates you have set it will automatically close the comment.

  • Go to Settings > Discussions in the WordPress dashboard
  • Under other comment settings, check the option “Automatically close comments on articles older than ____ days“.


Disabling comment is not a good idea. Because visitor is sharing their thoughts through comments about our articles. But if any blogger receives unofficial, irreverent comments, then he can use the above method to disable comments.
